Stephen Beckley (Steve) is the founder of Stephen L. Beckley and Associates, Inc., and is a principal in the firm of Hodgkins Beckley Consulting, LLC. Steve
has over 25 years of experience working with student
health care financing and insurance programs. He was employed as a consultant
for a major employee benefits consulting firm prior to founding Stephen L.
Beckley & Associates (SLBA), Inc., in February of 1991. HBC-SLBA has provided
consulting services for more than 170 colleges and universities.
Mr. Beckley has served as a consultant and technical advisor to the America College Health
Association's Task Force on Insurance, and he was the primary author of
several ACHA publications relating to student health care financing and
insurance. He is nationally recognized for his expertise in student insurance/benefit program operations and health service funding. He has conducted
seminars and workshops on student health care delivery and financing for
ACHA, the National Association of Personnel Administrators (NASPA), and other
meetings of university business officers, risk managers, and legal counsels.
Mr. Beckley has served as a member of the Idaho State University
Alumni Association's Board of Directors.
The Nursing Building at ISU is
named for Steve's mother, Helen Virginia Beckley. It was the first
academic building at a public university in Idaho named for a woman.
Mr. Beckley is an avid motorcyclist and outdoor enthusiast. He is also a licensed speech critic for the Colorado High School Activities Association, participating as a forensics judge at numerous high school debate tournaments each year. He is married to Stephanie Beckley and they have two daughters, Rachel Virginia and Julia Nicole.
Education: Bachelor of Arts degree in Rhetoric and Public Address, Idaho State University.
